About
Amiaz — full name Ermias "Amiaz" Habtu — is a German-Eritrean television presenter and rapper, born on 13 August 1977 in Asmara. His family fled for political reasons in 1978 and settled in Cologne, where Habtu later studied business administration and graduated as a Diplom-Kaufmann. He has worked as a basketball arena announcer since 2001, first for the Köln 99ers and since 2009 for the Düsseldorf Baskets, and has hosted the Beko BBL All Star Day since 2003. On television he became known above all through the VOX street quiz "Wer weiß es, wer weiß es nicht?" and the start-up show "Die Höhle der Löwen", which he has presented since 2014. Alongside presenting he performs as a musician, on stage with the mic.
