Ásgeir (born Ásgeir Trausti Einarsson in 1992 in Laugarbakki) is an Icelandic singer-songwriter whose music blends folk and electronic elements, often described as folktronica. His 2012 debut album "Dýrð í dauðaþögn" became a massive success in Iceland, going multi-platinum, with several singles topping the local charts. The English-language version "In the Silence" (2014), with lyrics translated by American singer John Grant, brought him international recognition. He won the European Border Breakers Award in 2014 and has since released "Afterglow" (2017), "Bury the Moon/Sátt" (2020) and "Time on My Hands" (2022). Live, he pairs gentle vocals with guitar, piano and electronic textures.
