About
BRKN, born Andaç Berkan Akbiyik on January 21, 1991, in Berlin, grew up in the Kreuzberg district; his stage name is a vowel-less spelling of his first name, Berkan. A rapper, singer, and music producer with Turkish, Kurdish, and Armenian roots, he took piano and saxophone lessons as a child and started rapping and singing at twelve. After early features with Berlin rappers such as Mach One and Said and production work for K.I.Z, he released his debut solo EP, "Yeah Bitch Yeah," in 2014 and that same year opened for Alligatoah on his acoustic tour. He went on to release the albums "Kauft meine Liebe" (2016), "Einzimmervilla" (2017), "Drama" (2021), and "Lösch meine Nummer" (2026), and in 2018 recorded the song "Doppelherz / İki Gönlüm" with Herbert Grönemeyer. Musically, BRKN moves between hip-hop, funk, neo-soul, and R&B, and remains part of the label BESTE, which grew out of WBR, the rap crew he belonged to as a teenager.
