Choy Ka Fai is a Berlin-based Singaporean artist whose practice centres on the cosmological power of dance. Working at the intersection of visual anthropology, technology and performance, he holds an M.A. in Design Interactions from the Royal College of Art in London. In 2019 he initiated CosmicWander, a research cycle on Asian shamanic dance practices that produced works such as Postcolonial Spirits (2021) and Yishun Is Burning (2022). His long-term documentary project SoftMachine (2015–2025) traces the lives of four Asian dance-makers and concluded in 2025 with SoftMachine: The Return. His work has been commissioned and presented internationally, including at Tanz im August, Kyoto Experiment and the Biennale of Sydney.
