Dead Pioneers are an American punk band formed in Denver, Colorado in 2020. The band is fronted by Gregg Deal, an Indigenous artist and activist of the Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe, who started the project as an extension of a performance piece. Their sound pairs hardcore punk riffs with spoken-word passages and confronts pressing political and social issues. Alongside Deal, the group features guitarists Josh Rivera and Abe Brennan, bassist Lee Tesche (of Algiers) and drummer Shane Zweygardt.
