About

Derya Yıldırım is a Hamburg-raised singer, composer and multi-instrumentalist best known for her playing of the bağlama (saz). She trained in Hamburg and at the Berlin University of the Arts, where she was the only student to take the bağlama as her principal instrument. Her music blends Anatolian folk and pop traditions with psychedelic and contemporary sounds. Together with her band Grup Şimşek she releases albums and tours internationally, singing mostly in Turkish.
