Die Brausen are a women's shanty choir from Cologne who present themselves as the singing crew of the "MS Dauerwelle" and are firmly rooted in the city's Südstadt district. The choir consists of 27 costumed singers accompanied by a galley band with violin, accordion, ukuleles, flutes and drum. Their repertoire covers more than 30 seafaring songs, including standards such as "Sie hieß Mary Ann", "Capri Fischer" and "Ein Schiff wird kommen", alongside cover versions of Nina Hagen and Element of Crime. The group performs regularly at Cologne venues such as the Volksbühne am Rudolfplatz, and has appeared on the Carolin Kebekus Show.
