Die Sterne are an indie pop band founded in Hamburg in 1991, centred on singer and guitarist Frank Spilker. Alongside Blumfeld and Tocotronic, they are counted among the central bands of the so-called Hamburger Schule, though their sound is markedly more danceable and equally shaped by punk and funk. Their German-language lyrics combine socially critical observations with personal themes. By 2022 the band had released twelve studio albums and has been a fixture of the German independent scene for decades.
