About

Eek-A-Mouse, born Ripton Hylton, is a Jamaican reggae musician from Kingston. He is regarded as one of the early “singjays”, combining singing with toasting, and is known for his idiosyncratic, scat-like vocal style. He took his stage name from a racehorse he had bet on. His work with producer Henry “Junjo” Lawes, which produced tracks such as “Wa-Do-Dem”, shaped his career, and on stage he stands out for his flamboyant costumes.
