Erol Evgin

Erol Evgin, born Mehmet Erol Evgin in 1947 in Istanbul, is one of the enduring names of Turkish pop music. Trained as an architect at the Mimar Sinan Academy of Fine Arts, he began his singing career in 1969 and rose to prominence working with songwriters such as Çiğdem Talu and Melih Kibar. His 1977 song and album İşte Öyle Bir Şey became a lasting classic. Beyond music he has also worked as a television presenter and actor, and founded the artists' organization POPSAV.
