About
Şevval Sam is a Turkish singer and actress from Istanbul, the daughter of singer Leman Sam and musician Selim Sam. She studied graphic design at Marmara University before turning to performance. Television made her widely known through series such as Süper Baba and Gülbeyaz, and more recently as Ender Çelebi in Yasak Elma. Her recording career began in 2006 with Sek, followed by İstanbul's Secrets, two albums titled Karadeniz built on folk songs from Turkey's Black Sea region, Has Arabesk — her readings of 1970s arabesque — and later records including Tango and Toprak Kokusu. Her repertoire moves between Anatolian folk song, arabesque and jazz-leaning arrangements.
