Fatcat (also styled FATCAT) is an eight-piece funk band from Freiburg im Breisgau, Germany, founded in 2013 by music students of the Jazz & Rock Schulen Freiburg. After early self-produced releases, the band put out its debut album Champagne Rush in 2016, recorded in Stuttgart with producer Tommy W. Fatcat has performed at festivals such as Jazzopen Stuttgart, the Zelt-Musik-Festival in Freiburg and, in 2017, the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland. The group has opened for international artists including Chaka Khan, Jamie Cullum and Anastacia, and in 2018 performed at Bellevue Palace at the invitation of the German Federal President. Their EP Love Child followed in 2019.
