H-Blockx were founded in 1990 by Henning Wehland and schoolfriends at the Gymnasium Wolbeck in Münster, Westphalia, and count as German pioneers of crossover – rock, rap and metal folded into one. The name refers to the H-Blocks of the Maze prison in Northern Ireland. Their 1993 single “Risin' High” first sold around 10,000 copies purely by word of mouth and charted on a second release in 1995; the debut album “Time To Move” spent more than 60 weeks in the German charts and went gold and platinum. “Move” and “Little Girl” became further staples. Alongside seven studio albums and a best-of, the band wrote the soundtrack to the German feature film “Bang Boom Bang – Ein todsicheres Ding”.
