Haitham Yousif, born Haitham Abed Yousif Sadiq in Baghdad on 29 November 1969, is an Iraqi singer, composer and songwriter known across the Middle East as the „Prince of Love“. Born to Assyrian parents originally from the town of Alqosh, he began his musical career in 1983 as a child performer in a Baghdad band. His song „Ma Asalhak“ was broadcast on Iraqi television in 1989, and his 1992 single „Ya Nas“ became his breakthrough: a 1994 television poll named it the best Iraqi song of the year, and he was chosen Iraqi singer of the year in the same year. Further albums and more than 40 music videos followed. Since 2003 he has performed internationally, in particular for Iraqi communities in Europe, North America and Australia.
