Jazzkantine is a German band founded in 1994 in Braunschweig that fuses jazz, funk and rap into a distinctive jazz-hip-hop sound. Their debut album earned them a contract with BMG and charted immediately, and in 1996 they won the German Echo award for "Best Jazz Production." Since forming, the group has performed more than 2000 concerts across Germany, Austria and Switzerland, including at the Montreux Jazz Festival. Their 2008 album Hell's Kitchen, reinterpreting hard-rock songs, topped the German jazz charts. Over their career they have released more than a dozen studio albums.
