Jon Spencer (born 1965 in Hanover, New Hampshire) is an American singer, guitarist and bandleader rooted in the noise- and garage-rock scenes. He rose to prominence with bands including Pussy Galore, Boss Hog and, most notably, the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, active from 1989 to 2022. His sound fuses punk, garage rock and blues delivered with heavy distortion and a theatrical stage presence, drawing on influences from Bo Diddley and James Brown to No Wave aesthetics. After the Blues Explosion ended, he formed Jon Spencer & the Hitmakers and released the album Sick of Being Sick! in 2024.
