About
The Jorge Rossy Vibes Quartet is one of the band configurations of the Catalan musician Jorge Rossy, internationally recognised as one of the most influential drummers of his generation and heard as a sideman on more than 180 recordings with musicians such as Brad Mehldau, Mark Turner, Joshua Redman and Kurt Rosenwinkel. After touring with Charlie Haden, Wayne Shorter, Lee Konitz, Carla Bley and Joe Lovano he developed a distinctive voice on vibes, marimba and piano; his debut as a vibraphonist, “Stay There”, appeared in 2015 and his first vibes trio album, “Puerta”, on ECM in 2021. In the quartet line-up of these concerts he is joined by trumpeter Milena Casado, double bassist Robert Landfermann and drummer Cornelia Nilsson. The bands Rossy has led or co-led since 2015 centre on his own compositions and a closely interlocking, chamber-music-like ensemble sound.
