Jovanotti is the stage name of Lorenzo Cherubini, an Italian singer-songwriter born in Rome in 1966. He launched his career in the late 1980s as a rapper and became one of the pioneers of Italian hip-hop. Over the years his sound evolved into an eclectic blend of pop, funk and world music, making him one of Italy's most successful and popular artists. He is also known for large open-air events such as the Jova Beach Party.
