About
The Kölner Männer-Gesang-Verein (KMGV) was founded on 27 April 1842 in Cologne and is one of Germany's most tradition-rich male choirs. Today the association has around 600 members, of whom about 180 perform as active singers across the tenor and bass registers. Its repertoire spans sacred choral music, folk-song arrangements, oratorios, opera choruses and numerous a cappella works. Composers such as Brahms, Liszt and Mendelssohn dedicated pieces to the ensemble. The choir also runs the stage group "Cäcilia Wolkenburg", which stages annual carnival productions entirely in the Cologne dialect.
