Lacrimas Profundere is a German gothic metal and dark rock band from Waging am See; the name is Latin for "to shed tears". The band was founded in 1993 by guitarist Oliver Nikolas Schmid, who remains its constant member through numerous line-up changes. After the self-released debut "...And the Wings Embraced Us" (1995), the album "Memorandum" (1999) on Napalm Records brought international recognition, including festival appearances in South America and Japan. With "Burning: A Wish" (2001) the band shifted towards dark rock, and "Filthy Notes for Frozen Hearts" (2006) became their first album to enter the German charts. They have shared stages with acts such as Paradise Lost and Amorphis.
