About
Les Ballets Jazz de Montréal (today Ballets Jazz Montréal, or BJM) is a Canadian dance company founded in 1972 in Montréal. It was created by Eva von Gencsy, Geneviève Salbaing and Eddy Toussaint and became for many years one of Canada's most popular and internationally touring troupes. Rooted originally in jazz dance, the company evolved into a diverse contemporary ballet ensemble. Since 2021 it has been led by artistic director Alexandra Damiani, working with celebrated contemporary choreographers. Among its best-known productions is "Dance Me", a tribute to the music of Leonard Cohen.
