Mario Basler (born 18 December 1968 in Neustadt an der Weinstraße) is a former German professional footballer and coach. A skilful midfielder and feared free-kick specialist, he won titles with clubs including Werder Bremen and Bayern Munich and also played for the German national team. Known for his outspoken, polarising personality, Basler now tours as a live stage entertainer. In shows such as 'Basler ballert' and 'Basler brennt' he analyses football with dry humour and shares stories and anecdotes from his playing days.
