Mark Zak (born 1959 in Lviv) is a German actor and author who grew up in Odesa and came to West Germany with his family from the Soviet Union in 1974. He trained at the Schauspielschule der Keller in Cologne from 1977 to 1980 and has since appeared in more than a hundred German and international films, among them "The Tourist" (2010) and "Bridge of Spies" (2014). As a writer he published the crime novel "Glaube Liebe Mafia" (2013) and the book "Erinnert euch an mich" (2018) about the Ukrainian anarchist Nestor Makhno. He has written numerous radio plays and features for WDR and Deutschlandfunk, including "Ich war ein praktisches Mädchen – Das ukrainische Tagebuch meiner Mutter" (2022). Zak lives with his family in Cologne.
