Mei Semones is a Japanese-American singer-songwriter and guitarist, born in 2000 in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and now based in Brooklyn, New York. A graduate of Berklee College of Music, she blends indie rock, jazz, bossa nova and chamber pop into a sound she calls jazz-influenced indie J-pop, singing in both English and Japanese. She is signed to Bayonet Records and released the EPs Tsukino (2022) and Kabutomushi (2024) along with her debut studio album Animaru (2025). Paste Magazine named her Best of What's Next in 2024.
