Michel Abdollahi (born 20 April 1981 in Tehran) is a German-Iranian artist, performance artist, poetry slammer, journalist and television presenter who moved to Hamburg at the age of five. He co-founded “Kampf der Künste” (Battle of the Arts), one of Hamburg’s best-known poetry-slam and stage-art institutions. On television he has hosted the NDR talk show “Käpt’ns Dinner” and produced documentaries. He is also known for socially engaged art installations such as “Der Schwamm” (The Sponge), created as a symbolic protest against hatred and racism.
