About

The Mikis Takeover! Ensemble is a classical ensemble led by violinist and arranger Miki Kekenj that translates modern pop and rap songs into a classical musical language. The name "Takeover" refers to the idea of taking over the concert space and transforming it into unfamiliar terrain for both performers and audience. The ensemble has created inventive arrangements for music by artists such as Joy Denalane, Max Herre and Stefanie Heinzmann. It became widely known through its collaboration with rapper Samy Deluxe, performing together in venues such as the Elbphilharmonie and the Kölner Philharmonie.
