Paolo Fresu (born 1961 in Berchidda, Sardinia) is an Italian jazz trumpeter, flugelhorn player and composer. He is one of the most prominent figures in European jazz, known for his lyrical and warm tone. Over his career he has released a large number of albums and collaborated across jazz, classical and world-music settings. Fresu is also the founder and artistic director of the Time in Jazz festival held in his hometown of Berchidda.
