Raphael Pichon

Raphaël Pichon (born 1984 in Orléans) is a French conductor and former countertenor. As a singer he performed under conductors such as Jordi Savall, Gustav Leonhardt and Ton Koopman. In 2006, while studying at the Paris Conservatoire, he founded the choir and orchestra Pygmalion, an ensemble specialising in period-instrument performance of Baroque and Classical repertoire. His recordings appear on the harmonia mundi label and include works by Bach, Mozart and Monteverdi. Debuts at the Paris Opera, the Berliner Philharmoniker and the Amsterdam Concertgebouw Orchestra are scheduled for the 2025-26 season.
