Saša Stanišić is a Bosnian-German writer, born in Višegrad, Bosnia and Herzegovina, in 1978; he came to Germany in 1992 as a refugee of the Bosnian War. His debut novel "How the Soldier Repairs the Gramophone" (2006) brought him international recognition, and his books have been translated into more than forty languages. He won the Leipzig Book Fair Prize in 2014 for "Before the Feast" and the German Book Prize in 2019 for "Where You Come From" (Herkunft). Alongside novels and short stories he also writes children's books and regularly appears on stage for readings. He lives in Hamburg.
