Simple Minds are a Scottish rock band formed in Glasgow in 1977. At its core the group is the duo of founding members Jim Kerr (vocals) and Charlie Burchill (guitar), augmented on stage and in the studio by guest musicians. Between the mid-1980s and the early 1990s they placed five albums and the single "Belfast Child" at number one in the United Kingdom, while "Don't You (Forget About Me)" topped the charts in the United States. Notable former members include Mick MacNeil, Derek Forbes, Brian McGee, Mel Gaynor and John Giblin. They remain one of the most successful British bands of the 1980s and 1990s and continue to tour.
