About
Smith & West is a German music duo made up of the actor and musician Michael J. Westphal (guitar and vocals) and the musician and composer Uli Schmid (piano and vocals). Their programme “Irgendwie die Beatles” combines around 30 Beatles songs with spoken episodes from their own stage careers. Westphal has appeared in the musicals of Heinz Rudolf Kunze and Heiner Lürig, works as a voice artist and is a founding member of the Hanover band Los Tumpolos; Schmid studied music and musicology in Tübingen and Essen and was a founding member of the German rock band Steinwolke. Since 2015 the two have also toured together with a Heinz Rühmann programme. In spring 2024 the duo played two concerts in Liverpool.
