About

Softcult is a Canadian duo formed by twin siblings Mercedes and Phoenix Arn-Horn, who previously played together in the pop-punk band Courage My Love. Their sound blends grunge with shoegaze – the band itself calls it “riotgaze” – and is shaped by the DIY spirit of 1990s riot grrrl culture. Mercedes sings and plays guitar, while Phoenix sings, drums and handles production. Alongside the music, the duo publishes its own zine, SCripture, which deals with social, political and environmental issues. After several EPs, the band released its debut album “When a Flower Doesn’t Grow”.
