Stephan Hippe is a Hamburg-based singer and chansonnier who trained in acting and singing in Hamburg. In 1989 he won a prize at the Federal Singing Competition in the chanson category. His stage career began in 1991 as Brad in The Rocky Horror Show at the Theater am Holstenwall, after which he played leading roles at theatres across Germany. Since 2012 he has created his own solo programmes devoted to French and German chanson, including Douce France, Brel une vie XL and the multimedia Aznavour tribute CHARLES und wie er die Welt sah. Charles Aznavour personally authorised Hippe's German translation of his song Sa Jeunesse.
