Tarkan (Tarkan Tevetoğlu, born 1972 in Alzey, Germany) is a Turkish pop singer who moved to Turkey in 1986. His music blends pop, folk pop and dance-pop, performed in Turkish and English. His breakthrough came with the albums "Ölürüm Sana" (1997) and the compilation "Tarkan" (1998), which established him across Europe. His 1998 song "Şımarık" became his signature track, charting in multiple European countries and introducing him to international audiences. In 1999 he was honored at the World Music Awards as the best-selling Turkish artist.
