The Mission is an English gothic rock band formed in late 1985 by Wayne Hussey and Craig Adams after they left The Sisters of Mercy; the first line-up was completed by Simon Hinkler and Mick Brown. After two independently released singles, the band signed with Phonogram and released its debut album “God’s Own Medicine”. Its best-known songs include “Wasteland”, “Tower of Strength”, “Deliverance” and “Butterfly on a Wheel”. Following a break in the second half of the 1990s, the group reunited in 1999. Wayne Hussey is the band's singer and principal songwriter.
