About
The Toasters are an American ska band formed in New York City in 1981 by the English-born Robert "Bucket" Hingley. They are widely regarded as one of the pioneering acts of the third-wave ska movement in the United States, mixing ska with pop, rap, R&B and calypso influences. Their early material was released through Moon Ska Records, a label Hingley founded after struggling to secure distribution. Following the collapse of Moon Ska Records in 2004, the band continued recording and touring internationally on the Megalith Records label. Hingley has remained the band's constant core member throughout its long career.
