About
Thrown into Exile are a metal band from Los Angeles, formed in 2011. Their music sits between melodic death metal and groove metal: heavy, riff-driven writing carried by long melodic lines and a constant switch between screamed and sung vocals. They first drew wider attention with a self-titled debut EP and a slot at the Rockstar Mayhem Festival, won through the 2012 “Road to Mayhem” band contest. Two full-lengths followed, Safe Inside (2016) and II: Illusion of Control (2020). Lyrically the band works through grief, isolation, loss and personal change without reaching for tidy resolutions. Live, they have shared stages with In Flames, DevilDriver, Fear Factory and Soulfly.
