Yamato - The Drummers of Japan is a professional taiko (wadaiko) drumming troupe founded in 1993 and based in Asuka Village, Nara Prefecture, Japan. The ensemble pairs the thunderous sound of traditional Japanese drums with physically demanding, athletic stage performance and elaborate handmade costumes. Since its founding the group has given more than 4,500 performances across the world, touring Europe, the USA, Southeast Asia, Brazil and many other regions. Yamato performs regularly in Germany and completed a 14-show German tour in 2025. Its high-energy shows have made it one of the most internationally recognised taiko groups.
