Freizeitpark Rheinaue, known to locals simply as "die Rheinaue," is a roughly 160-hectare recreational park south of Bonn's Gronau district, right along the Rhine. Its layout took shape for the 1979 Federal Garden Show (Bundesgartenschau), transforming a previously undeveloped agricultural floodplain. With its broad meadows, paths and lakes, the park remains a popular setting for open-air concerts, festivals and other outdoor events.
