The Haus der Geschichte der Bundesrepublik Deutschland sits on Bonn's Museum Mile and covers German contemporary history since 1945. With around 850,000 visitors a year, it is one of Germany's most-visited museums and part of the Haus der Geschichte foundation, which also runs the Zeitgeschichtliches Forum in Leipzig, the Tränenpalast in Berlin and the Museum in the Kulturbrauerei. The foundation is headquartered in Bonn, and admission to the museum is free.
