Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf

Düsseldorf

Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf grew out of a medical academy founded in 1907, was established as a university in 1965, and was named in 1988 after the Düsseldorf-born poet Heinrich Heine; it has comprised five faculties since 1993. Around 28,200 students were enrolled in the 2025/26 winter semester. Through its Haus der Universität, the university also opens its spaces to a wider public with talks and events on the exchange between science and society, and its orchestra performs regularly at the Tonhalle Düsseldorf and in churches.
