The Historic Town Hall of Cologne on Rathausplatz, with a documented history of roughly 900 years, is regarded as Germany's oldest city hall. Since construction work on the adjoining MiQua Jewish museum began in 2018, visitor access has run through the entrance on Alter Markt, and beyond its role as a seat of city government, the building also serves as a venue for guided tours and concerts.
