Marienkirche

Duisburg

The Protestant Marienkirche at Marientor in Duisburg's old town is the city's second-oldest place of worship, tracing back to a 12th-century Knights Hospitaller place of prayer; the hospital and church were founded around 1150 and it became a parish church in 1187. Its plain 1802 Classical-style building, with a green-patinated tower, still shapes the skyline of Duisburg's old town today.
