St. Andreas in Düsseldorf's old town was begun by the Jesuits from 1619 and completed while the Thirty Years' War was still under way; the church is considered a masterpiece of the late Renaissance transitioning into the Baroque. Since the 1970s the Dominicans have run the three-aisled hall church, which is also used as a concert venue, including as part of the Düsseldorf Festival.
