The Alter Wartesaal at Cologne's main station was built in 1915 in Art Nouveau style as the first and second-class waiting room, and thanks to its protected basement location it is the only part of the station complex from that era to survive. Opened as a venue by Alfred Biolek in 1983, the stuccoed hall has combined a club, restaurant and bar since a 2014 renovation and seats up to 1,000 guests on weekends.
