La Sonora Santanera

About the event

Die Kantine in Cologne becomes the stage for La Sonora Santanera in November 2026. On the road without pause for more than 70 years, the orchestra is one of the defining names of Mexico's tropical music - bringing mambo, cha-cha-chá, son montuno, cumbia and bolero.

Led by Arturo Ortiz and Toño Méndez, the group performs as a 13-piece big band; the Cologne evening is part of its European concerts. The evening draws on the best-known pieces of the repertoire, above all classics like La Boa and Perfume de Gardenias.
