About

Born in Krasnodar, Russia, in 1971, Anna Netrebko has been one of the defining sopranos of her generation since her debut in 1994. Trained at the St Petersburg Conservatory, she has opened seasons at Teatro alla Scala in Milan and the Metropolitan Opera in New York, and was the first classical musician named to Time magazine's list of the 100 most influential people. Her repertoire runs from Mozart and bel canto (Bellini's La sonnambula, Donizetti's Anna Bolena) through the French repertoire (Massenet's Manon, Gounod's Roméo et Juliette) to Verdi, Puccini, Tchaikovsky and verismo. She has recorded exclusively for Deutsche Grammophon since 2003, and her awards include three Grammy nominations, Germany's Bambi and two Classical BRIT Awards.
