The BBC Philharmonic is a British broadcasting symphony orchestra based at MediaCityUK in Salford and one of the orchestras maintained by the British Broadcasting Corporation. Founded in 1922, it went through several name changes before adopting its current name in 1982. Its principal concert venue is the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester. Alongside concerts and radio recordings, the orchestra performs regularly at the BBC Proms and undertakes international tours.
