Belphegor is an Austrian extreme metal band from Salzburg, formed in 1991 and known for its blackened death metal sound. The group originally performed under the name Betrayer before adopting its current name in 1993, taken from the demon Belphegor. Fronted by vocalist and guitarist Helmuth Lehner, the band has released numerous studio albums over its long career and regularly tours across Europe. Their music fuses aggressive death metal with the dark atmosphere of black metal and a blasphemously themed aesthetic.
