Bob Dylan, born Robert Allen Zimmerman in Duluth, Minnesota in 1941, is one of the most influential singer-songwriters in the history of popular music. He rose to fame in the early 1960s within New York's Greenwich Village folk scene, writing anthems such as "Blowin' in the Wind" and "The Times They Are a-Changin'." His shift to amplified rock in the mid-1960s, marked by songs like "Like a Rolling Stone," reshaped the boundaries of popular music. In 2016 he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature for creating new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition. Now in his eighties, he continues to tour and record, remaining a defining voice of modern music.
